My First Blog

OK... I'm just starting to try to figure this out... I've had a blog on Sparkpeople.com for the past year, but am going to take the leap here.

Here's a little about me...

-I joined sparkpeople.com in January 2008 and have lost 52 pounds since then. I'm about 20 pounds from my goal weight and that 20 is proving challenging to get off.

-I started running in March 2008 using the Couch to 5K program. I'm celebrating ONE YEAR as a runner this week -- if you can call what I did at the beginning running. Since then, I've run in five 5K races and one 10K. I'm a slow runner... my first 5K was in May 2008 at 39:16 (a run/walk) and my best time to date was in December 2008 at 37:00. I'm hoping to break the 36 minute barrier in 2009.

-I am currently training for my first half marathon -- the longest I've run to date is just over 9 miles.

-I ALWAYS prefer to train outdoors and have made it through my first New England winter without frostbite. I hate the dreadmill!
